5/16/2023 0 Comments Fontexplorer x pro iconWe are currently working on an update, and the next version of FontExplorer X Pro will fix this issue. The auto-activation is using a new Apple technology (called Core Text), which unfortunately does not work correctly with some of the Adobe and Quark applications when keeping the fonts permanently activated. Then click on TOOLS and clean all font caches. Go to FONTEXPLORER X PRO -> PREFERENCES -> ADVANCED and make sure that "Automatically deactivate fonts which have not been activated by the system" is NOT set to never. I have also tried this based on their feedback: Still after trying this multiple times, the errors continue and even get more random. ![]() Choose Tools > Clean System Font Caches (requires restart) Choose Tools > Clean Application Font Caches (check all available checkboxes)ģ. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer X 2. Choose Tools > Refresh Spotlight Databaseġ. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer XĢ. I have tried the following based on feedback from Font Explorer staff:ġ. I have seen these issues with both formerly created files and fresh new files. In all adobe apps, if I go to use "replace font" on the missing fonts (even though they are turned on) the "replace font" menu only shows the basic system fonts, it won't show me the other fonts turned on. Another time I have seen after an illustrator file is opened the fonts aren't recognized as being opened and the text goes blank on the page.Ĥ. Other times, such as in Indesign, I go to open the file and the file stalls and doesn’t progress while it is trying to activate the fonts.ģ. I see this more often with the User system fonts, but a few times with my regular fonts.Ģ. But this does not stay permanently, as soon as I do a restart I have to go through this process again. If I go back to Font Explorer and deactivate manually, then re-activate manually. The font activates, but the Adobe app does not recognize that it is active. This program is having trouble with font activation in all my Adoble suite apps including Indesign. FontExplorer X Pro is also your command center when connected to the new. With my new mac I bought the latest version of FontExporer Pro X 4.2. Birdfont is a font editor which lets you create vector. Font Management applications are the best help one can have to get control over the fonts on the mac, both the fonts you actually want to work with and the fonts the System needs to run.Anyone know how to solve a font activation problem I am having with FontExplorer 4.2? I am on a new mac with new fonts, I am using Maverick with Adobe CS6. Each of them have different ways to get the work done, different looks, different features etc.įew applications are available to do this task, FontAgent Pro, Suitcase Fusion and Linotype FontExplorer X. The worst part is that only a few would read it and learn it and probably those who would read it to the end would most of them know this stuff already.īut when they succeed they are actually managing the same stuff.įull understanding in Font Management requires some reading and studying and for me – if I wanted to write about it in full, would take me days. Instead of talking about Font Management in detail, I am going to go through the installation of one of those programs, Linotype FontExplorer X. FEX as it is often called is free and it has some very nice tools for font managing. I am not saying that FEX is better than Suitcase Fusion or Font Agent but I have used it with 20 other designers for many months and it is save to say that FEX is a very good tool.Īt the end of this article you should have FEX installed properly, you will have taken some right decisions and Font Management should be working for you even if you only know bare minimum about Font Management. FEX includes a nice and short Help documents that are available after you have installed so it’s not of a much use while you are installing. When and if you read the Help file you may find out that you have not chosen the best setup to suit your needs and would have to change it afterwards or even reinstall. I hope his little article will help you with the installation and help you to take the right decisions. Start by downloading Linotype FontExplorerX (FEX). ![]() When the download has finished the disk image will open up and you will see the applications icon.ĭrag the FEX to Applications folder. #Fontexplorer x pro refresh fonts download# Open the Applications folder and find FEX. #Fontexplorer x pro refresh fonts download#.
